BNP Paribas seeks partnerships in mainland

BNP Paribas Peregrine is seeking strategic partnerships with mainland brokerage houses in a bid to gain a foothold in China's capital and securities markets. According to the newly appointed group vice-chairman Francis Leung Pak-to, talks are under way between BNP Paribas Peregrine and several major Chinese brokerage houses aiming at forming possible co-operation and future Sino-foreign joint-venture plans. The investment bank is seeking opportunities in a full range of businesses, including primary market equity fund-raising activities, the brokerage business, bond issues and derivatives.
