BMW to launch China car-making jv with Brilliance China

SHANGHAI (AFX-ASIA) - BMW AG has applied for government approval to launch a car-manufacturing joint venture with Brilliance China Group, the China Daily cited sources at BMW as saying.The proposed venture, in which BMW and Brilliance China would each hold 50-pct stakes, would produce BMW three and five series vehicles, the report said, adding that the venture would initially assemble 8,000-10,000 cars per year.Construction of the manufacturing facility will begin this year or early next year, pending government approval, it said.
