Tsang said Hong Kong GDP to grow 4% in 2001

Hong Kong's gross domestic product should grow 4% in real terms in 2001, said Financial Secretary Donald Tsang. It expanded by 10.5% last year.In the three years through 2004, GDP growth should average 4% per year, said Tsang in his 2001/02 budget speech -- his last before he steps up to become Chief Secretary, the government's No. 2 official, later this spring. Inflation this year will be zero, he said.Exports will grow by 5.5% this year, while local consumption rises by 2.5% and overall investment by 3.6%.
