Beijing Datang to raise capacity by 61.7 pct, invest 15 bln yuan to 2006

HONG KONG (AFX-ASIA) - Beijing Datang Power Generation Co Ltd executive director Yang Hongming said the company will raise its installed capacity by at least another 61.7 pct during the next five years. Cited by the South China Morning Post, Yang said the company plans to invest 15 bln yuan in five projects up to 2006. The company will assign its cash reserve and seek bank loans for the investment, Yang said. Yang said apart from building and acquiring new facilities, the company plans to improve power generation capacities at existing installations to meet rising demand. Beijing Datang will implement the five projects to lift installed capacity to 7,518 megawatts by 2006 from last year's 4,650 MW, the report said, adding this includes its share of capacity at two joint ventures.
