Sina.com shuts chatroom over Jiangxi school blast comments

BEIJING (AFX-ASIA) - Sina.com has shut down its chatroom after receiving hundreds of comments accusing the government of a cover-up in the Jiangxi school explosion, a company official said. Several hundred comments were erased from the website's chatroom on the Jiangxi blast in an effort to abide by China's internet laws, the official, asking to remain anonymous, said. "We have to follow the state media. The net citizens can raise questions over issues but they can't criticize the government," he told Agence France Presse. The official Xinhua news agency said a suicidal madman detonated explosives, while villagers say pupils were forced to make firecrackers at the school.
