Shi Guangsheng: China export growth lower than last year

Shi Guangsheng, minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation PRC, expected export growth this year to be lower than last year because the global economy was slowing down and a big growth was accomplished last year. But the growth will still be notable.He indicated that the foreign trade rose fairly in the first two months this year though the annual growth would slow down..Figures from Customhouse shows that the export value of the first two first months is 29.9% up compared with a year earlier, much higher than market expectation of 10%, and import value rose by 35.7% because of the reduction of common commodity tarrif, higher than expected 13%.China last yearˇ¦s export growth was 27.8% while import surged by 35.8%. Trade surplus fell to US$2.41 bln from US$242.1of the year 1999.
