Taiwan central bank sees economic recovery in H2: report
TAIPEI (AFX-ASIA) - Central bank governor Perng Fai-nan said the local economy is expected to take a turn for the better in the second half in tandem with a U.S. economic rebound, the Commercial Times reported. U.S. economic recovery will help the island's exports and the extra public investment prompted by the government here will help stimulate the domestic economy, he said. Separately, Perng has ordered central bank staff to maintain stability in the local currency and interest rates during his absence from the country when he visits Chile from March 15-25, it added.
