Hutchison Telecom confirms in talks with Telecom NZ

SYDNEY (AFX) - Hutchison Telecommunications (Australia) Ltd confirmed newspaper reports that it has had discussions with Telecom Corp of New Zealand Ltd, as it has with other companies, regarding possible business arrangements. No agreement with regard to the future business of the company has been reached with Telecom New Zealand or any other company, it said. The Australian Financial Review reported yesterday that Telecom NZ is planning to partner with Hutchison Telecom in the mobile phone market in Australia. At 10:40 am, Hutchison Telecom was steady at 0.92 aud. The S&P/ASX 200 was up 8.3 points at 3,251.2.
