China national debts RMB 240mln by 1999, 30% of GDP

Newspaper reported China national debts, domestic and overseas, had reached RMB240 mln by the end of 1999, amounting for 30% of GDP, citing He Keng, vice chairman of China State Statistics bureau.According to the report, Mr He indicated China tangible foreign debts had totaled US$151.8 bln by the end of 1999, US$10 bln ¡V 12 bln more than the previous year, and intangible foreign debts rose to US$50 bln. Thus the total of foreign debts reached US$200 bln (RMB 1600 bln).
