Allianz acquires Dresdner for US$20bln

German Allianz Insurance said that the company had agreed to acquire Bank of Dresdner”¦s a 80% stake for US$ 20bln (about HK$156bln). Upon completion, Allianz will be one of the leading financial institutions. The market value of Allianz and Dresdner totaled EUP 109bln, just less than EUP 122.8bln of HSBC Holdings (0005) in Europe.
