U.S., China should consider "highest interests" in resolving row: Jiang
SANTIAGO, Chile (AFX-ASIA) - Chinese President Jiang Zemin said the "highest interests" of U.S.-China relations should guide the search for a resolution to the row over the military aircraft collision off Hainan. "I want to note emphatically that both Chinese and U.S. leaders should manage this matter by taking into consideration the highest interests of bilateral relations, to provide an adequate solution to this problem," Jiang said. "The U.S. plane is in an airport of our province of Hainan and the 24 members of its crew are safe and sound." Jiang is in Chile at the start of a 12-day six-country tour of Latin America.
