Chinese pilot had confronted U.S. aircraft before: U.S. Senator

WASHINGTON (AFX-ASIA) - A Chinese pilot missing after a mid-air collision between his fighter and a U.S. surveillance aircraft had confronted U.S. aircraft several times before the incident, Senator Richard Lugar said. "The pilot involved apparently is the same pilot who has been observed by our reconnaissance aircraft in the past," according to Lugar, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations and Intelligence Committees. Lugar said in a television interview that Chinese planes and the missing pilot Wang Wei had on several previous occasions challenged U.S. planes flying similar routes as the Aries surveillance aircraft now in China. "It appears to me that on this occasion he simply exceens are still alive."
