China to draft online tax, e-payment laws to boost e-commerce: MII

BEIJING (AFX-ASIA) - The government is to draft new laws and regulations for online taxes, online tariffs,electronic payment and identity certification to encourage the growth of e-commerce in China, Information Industry Minister Wu Jichuan said, the China Daily reported. A nationwide logistics network, financial regulation system and credit system will also be set up, Wu told an electronic commerce conference. The paper said statistics indicate 1,500 e-commerce websites have been set up in China to date, and the volume of business transacted last year reached 77.16 bln yuan.
