Hong Kong govt unlikely to pursue share disposal program in near term: report
HONG KONG (AFX-ASIA) - The Exchange Fund Investment Ltd is unlikely to dispose of the remaining shares acquired by the government during the financial crisis in 1998 in the near term, following the local stock market's recent correction, the Ming Pao Daily quoted unnamed sources as saying. The government introduced the Tracker Fund in 1999 as the first step in the disposal of its portfolio of shares. Sources said the Exchange Fund is worried about the pressure on the local stock market if the government decides to pursue its share disposal program.
