Income of China information industry is expected to increase 20% annually

Zhang Qi, chairman of Electronic Product Management of China Ministry of Information Industry, said on the fifth COMDEX/China Review that the information industry in China will grow over 20% annually in the coming 5 years. The market scale will be doubled compared with last year. The industry added value will account 7% of the GDP.She said, by the year of 2005. China telecom business income will reach RMB1 trillion, at the average growth rate of 23% each year. the income of electronic information industry will reach RMB1.5 trillion, increasing 20% each year; the electronic product export to reach US$100 bln, doubling than 2000.She added, the information industry has becoming one of the backbone industry in China. China has produced 8.6 mln computers, while the PC market share was 79.6%; the mobile phone output reached 52.1 mln, while the IC output was 5 bln units.
