CDS brings profound influence

Wan Xiaochu, chairman of China Mobile (0941), said if it was possible, the group hoped to be listed on A-share market in forms of China Depository Shares (CDS) in mainland. At present the group was in talks with China Securities Regulatory Commission and no timetable was set. American Depository Shares are for convenience of US investors to trade stocks of other countries locally, which could meet target of being listed in US and avoid complicated measures and high expenditures. Depository Shares are a kind of convertible vouchers, which represent shares. In recent years, a lot of HK-listed large state-owned enterprises and local blue chips such as China Mobile (0941), Petrochina Co.Ltd.(0857),China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (0386),HSBC (0005), Hutchison Whampoa Ltd.(0013) and Pacific Century CyberWorks(0008) all issued ADR in US.
