Forex: Australian dollar lower on euro
SYDNEY (AFX-ASIA) - The Australian dollar was lower in late afternoon trading, tracking the euro, dealers said. The unit traded between a high of 0.5048 usd and a low of 0.5006 during the day. IBJ Australia Bank currency trader Nick Kapes said the Australian dollar has been boosted by buying from gold producers in the past 24 hours but gold producers seem to have stopped buying as the gold price fell overnight. He said since the euro remains under significant pressure, the risk of the Aussie is on the downside with initial support seen at 0.4970 usd.
