NEC to restructure 10 software development units from Oct 1
TOKYO (AFX-ASIA) - NEC Corp said the company will restructure 10 units out of its current 16 units involved in software development from Oct 1, 2001. Under the plan, the company said it will integrate four regional software companies in the Tokyo region into one firm, creating NEC Soft Corp. One unit in Okinawa will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of NEC Soft Corp, the company said. NEC Soft will have total employees of 5,000 in the year to March 2002, rising to 5,400 in the year to March 2004. The company forecasts NEC Soft to post sales of 89.2 bln yen in the year to March 2002, rising to 130 bln in the year to March 2004. The company will also integrate five regional companies in west Japan, forming NEC System Technologies Corp. NEC System will have a total workforce of 3,500 in the year to March 2002, rising to 4,000 in the year to March 2004. The company said it forecasts NEC System to post sales of 61 bln yen in the year to March 2002, rising to 80 bln in the year to March 2004.
