CLP partners with China Netcom to develop internet, telephone services: report
HONG KONG (AFX-ASIA) - CLP Holdings has joined forces with China Netcom to develop its Hong Kong-China internet and telephone services, the South China cited market sources as saying. The sources said CLP is to roll out the services, branded China Links,through its wholly owned unit CLP Telecommunications, once it has government approval. In the report, CLP TeleCom managing director Peter Heavyside said the company has signed a legally binding agreement with a mainland telecom operator, but he declined to identify the partner. The report said after a year's discussions, CLP TeleCom is still negotiating with the Economic Services Bureau over the use of regulated assets for non-power purposes.
