BoJ's Hayami denies resignation reports
WASHINGTON (AFX) - Bank of Japan governor Masaru Hayami said he does not intend to resign, denying an earlier report by the Japan Broadcasting Corp (NHK)."I do not understand at all why such a thing has been reported," Hayami said in a statement released following his arrival here with Japan's new Finance Minister Masajuro Shiokawa for this weekend's G7 meeting."I have said I want to complete my term as long as my health condition allows me to do so," he said. "And there is no change in this."Hayami and Shiokawa are scheduled to hold a separate meeting with U.S. Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill and Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan ahead of the G7 meeting.
