Nortel says will not comment on Lehman Brothers report

MONTREAL (AFX) - Nortel Networks Corp will not comment on a report from Lehman Brothers, which said the company is poised to announce a major reorganization involving key management changes, spokesman David Chamberlain said. ""We're not going to comment on any rumors and speculation, or on Tim Luke's report," he said. According to a report by Lehman analyst Tim Luke, who cited inside sources, Nortel will appoint Frank Plastina, currently the head of Nortel's carrier switching and wireless operations, to a role similar to that of chief operating officer. The move would fill the void left by former COO Clarence Chandran, who took a medical leave. Lehman's report also suggested Nortel may divest or spin-off some non-core assets.
