China increases security of domestic websites

BEIJING (AFX-ASIA) - China said it had increased security of domestic websites in response to a surge in the number of attacks by hackby the National Computer Network and Information Security Administration Bureau to offer support to website owners and Internet Service Providers. 	    Official statistics quoted by Xinhua said that online attacks against Chinese websites accounted for 13.8 pct of all attacks worldwide last month.	    Xinhua earlier reported that U.S.-based hackers had defaced the web sites of the provincial governments of Yichun, Xiajun and Beijing, the Deng Xiaoping police force and the Tsinghua and Xinjiang Universities.
