STOCKWATCH Rambus plunges after U.S. court dismisses patent claims vs Infineon
SAN FRANCISCO (AFX) - Rambus Inc shares took a nosedive in late session trade after the company said a U.S. court dismissed its remaining patent infringement claims against Infineon Technologies AG -- a ruling the company said it will appeal.At 3.50 pm in New York trade, the shares traded down 27.88 pct or 5.06 usd at 13.09. The shares opened at 17.45 usd and earlier in the session traded as high as 18.55. The Philadelphia semiconductor (Sox) index lost 1.49 pct or 9.62 pts to 637.45 and the Nasdaq composite rose 39.64 pts or 1.85 pct to 2,185.84.News of a downgrade by Morgan Stanley analyst Mark Edelstone to 'neutral' from 'buy' also served to pressure the stock, dealers said.Rambus said it remains involved in infringement cases for 12 of its U.S. and European patents against Infineon, Hyundai and Micron Technology Inc.Infineon ADRs jumped on the news, rising 4.84 pct or 1.95 usd to 42.20.
