China urban per capita income in 2000 up 11.4% to RMB9,371

The Xinhua News Agency cited figures from the Ministry of the Labor and Social Security as saying that urban per capita income in 2000 jumped 11.4% to hit RMB9,371. Employees from privately-owned and foreign-funded companies earned 15% more than State workers.The average annual salary of private businesses and JVs stood at RMB10,984 while that of state-owned companies at RMB9,552. Workers from collective units gained the least, only a mere RMB6,262.The Ministry also pointed out that 13,500 labor and capital cases were handled last year, posting a rise of 12.5%.
