China South Air parent to inject Northern, Xingjiang Air assets into company

HONG KONG (AFX-ASIA) - China Southern Airlines Co Ltd chairman Yen Chiqing said parent Southern Airlines (Group) will inject assets of China Northern Airlines and China Xinjiang Airlines into the company after the parent completes the acquisition of the two airlines. Cited by the Apple Daily, Yen said the asset injections will lead to a restructuring of China Southern Airlines. Yen said while the restructuring is expected to involve in-flight route adjustments, he believes the number of China Southern Airlines' flight routes will increase after the restructuring. He said he expects the asset injections will not raise the company's gearing ratio. Earlier, the parent said it held negotiations with China Northern Airlines and China Xinjiang Airlines about possible cooperation involving aviation business consolidation and restructuring.
