Yahoo's Yang says no immediate merger plans

HONG KONG (AFX-ASIA) - Yahoo! Inc co-founder Jerry Yang said the company has no immediate plans for a merger. Responding to a question on Yahoo!'s continued independence, Yang said: "We believe Yahoo can be a great business. "We plan to build it and we will look at partnerships, but right now, no, there are no immediate plans to merge. We have still got a long way to go to get there." "Our aim is to create something that lasts for a long time," according to Yang, who is attending the Fortune Global Forum. "We are only interested in acquisitions that will grow, but we will look at partnerships of all forms -- acquisitions, business partnerships, we'll look at it all
