SingTel declines comment on reported talks to purchase stake in Maxis

SINGAPORE (AFX-ASIA) - Singapore Telecommunications Ltd declined to comment on a news report in Kuala Lumpur that it is in talks with Maxis Communications Bhd that could possibly lead to SingTel buying a strategic 

stake in Maxis.

	    "We don't comment on rumours," a spokeswoman for SingTel said.

	    According to the report by Business Times, Maxis Communications has sent a top-level team to Singapore for "base-level" talks with Singapore Telecommunications Ltd.

	    The spokeswoman also declined to comment whether such a meeting has transpired.
