China Unicom expects market share to rise to 35% in 3-5 years

Li Zhengmao, executive director of China Unicom (0762) said the company expected to increase its mobile phones market share in mainland to 35% in 3-5 years.

Mr Li announced the market share of China Unicom at the end of 2000 to be 22.7%, reported by sources.

He also pointed out that the company hoped to acquire 18 mobile phones networks from its parent company as soon as possible.However, the exact timetable was not worked out yet.
