VoiceStream and Deutsche Telecom merged; Hutchison Whampoa makes US$5.5 bln

Hutchison Whampoa Ltd (0013) pointed out in a statement last Saturday that the company wouldnˇ¦t suffer any loss from relevant deals though VoiceStream was under merger with Deutsche Telecom.

Calculated by the closing price last Friday, Hutchison Whampoa can make a profit worth US$5.5 bln including US$915 mln in cash and about 260 mln Deutsche Telecom shares.

The relevant transactions is due to be completed around May 31 when the cash and shares to be collected by Hutchison Whampoa will be announced.
