PCCW and Microsoft vie to acquire Interplay

PCCW (0008) reportedly plans to acquire Interplay, one of the five biggest game software developers in US, to sharpen its competitiveness in the game software and make preparation for future broadband multi-media service. The acquisition is estimated to hit US$800 mln.

Besides, Microsoft, the archrival to PCCW, was also rumored to purchase Interplay to cement its strength of XBox.
