Consideration of land registration agreements down 20% to $14.4 billion in May
The Land Registry released the land registration statistics for May. It received for registration 7,351 sale and purchase agreements on residential and non-residential building units. The figure represents a decrease of 6.4 per cent from April 2001 but an increase of 20 per cent when compared with May 2000. The total consideration of these agreements in May was about $14.4 billion, down 19.8 per cent and 18.3 per cent when compared with the previous month and May 2000 respectively. The figures are contained in the monthly statistics by the Land Registry on deeds relating to property transactions received for registration in the Urban and New Territories Land Registries in May 2001. These statistics generally relate to land transactions executed up to four weeks prior to their submission for registration as there is usually a time lag between the execution of deeds and their lodgement for registration.
