US stocks in choppy booming, Dow Jones and Nasdaq up 0.19% and 2.09%
US stocks registered strong performance yesterday. Technology stocks basked in spotlight over the expectation for a turnaround in the market, and blue chips also benefited the favorable sentiment and narrowed the down-range despite the initial softness. Dow Jones Industrial Average Index closed at 11090.74 pts, slightly up 20.5 pts, or 0.19, while Nasdaq climbed up 46.27 pts, or 2.09% to finish at 2264 pts. As for individual technology stocks, Cisco System (4333), Intel (4335) and Microsoft Corp (4338) all gained 5.11%, 4.43% and 1.82% respectively to end at US$21.82, US$31.14 and US$73.68. Contrarily, IBM lost 0.21% to finish at US$117.25. US 30-year treasury bond yield inched up 0.052% to stand at 5.715% Europe stocks went separate developments, with UK Financial Times adding 46.8%, or 0.79% to close at 5948.3 pts. German DAX index erased 8.19 pts, or 0.13% to end at 6184.25 pts. French CAC index also diminished by 43.1 pts, or 0.78% to finish at 5453.39 pts. London Hong Kong stocks went soft, with HSLRI closing at 13643.34 pts, down 60.09 pts from the closing in Hong Kong yesterday.
