China Unicom controls telecom equipment cost and saves RMB5.4b capital expense

China Unicom (0762) executive director Li Zhengmao said that the company is in bargaining talks with telecom equipment providers and the capital expense this year would be reduced by 10-15% over the original budget of RMB36 bln, which meant that RMB5.4 bln would be saved.

Besides, China Unicom would use the saved money to expand its market shares and expected that its shares can reach 35% in China¡¦s mobile markets in 3 years.
