Buyers in talks on acquisition of Lucent optical fiber at offer of UK$3-3.5 bln

Several buyers intended to purchase the optical fiber business from Lucent at an offer of US$3-3.5 bln, lower than the market expectation of US$5 bln.

A Lucent spokesperson said the company was in talks with several buyers and hoped to sell relevant business at the highest price.

The buyers include Alcatel, Pirelli, Ciena Corp and Linthicum.
