US June consumer confidence index rises to 117.9

The US Department of Commerce announced yesterday that its consumer confidence index in June rose to 117.9, higher than the market expectation of 114.5, which indicated that the consumers were more optimistic about the economy and employment forecast than in the past six months. The consumer confidence index in May was amended to be 116.1, higher than that in April.
