Top 1000 list released; HSBC jumps to No.24

According to the Global Top 1000 Enterprises list in terms of market value released by the BusinessWeek, traditional-economy-type enterprises grew stronger through merger and acquisition. GE still defended its top position, while HSBC Holdings (0005) leaped from No.46 last year to No.24, becoming the top Hong Kong enterprise on the list. BusinessWeek ranks the enterprises according to the closing prices ended May 31 this year. Among the top 10 list, only Microsoft Corp (4338) and AOL Time Warner are new-economy stocks. Nokia and NTT DoCoMo are squeezed out of the top 10 list.
