Ericsson provides UMTS networks for Hutchison Whampoa subsidiary, Italy H3G

Italy Ericsson and Italy H3G, subsidiary of Hutchison Whampoa (0013), have signed a letter of intent, pursuant to which Italy Ericsson will provide the main part of the UMTS core network and the wireless infrastructure website, including the infrastructure website and its controlling. The network would be put into operation in the summer of 2002. 

Furthermore, both of the two sides would jointly set up a research institute of 3G service and development in Milan.
