Motorola records loss for consecutive second quarter
Global second biggest mobile phone manufacturer Motorola announced that it recorded loss for the consecutive second quarter. The Q2 loss hit US$232 mln and per share loss stood at 11 US cents, slightly below the market expectation of 12 US cents. The Q2 sales also dropped 19% to US$7.5 bln due to the sluggish mobile and semi-conductor market. In the second quarter of this year, Motorola made a provision of US$496 mln for cost-cutting and asset value reduction campaign. Motorola surged more than 5.9% to US$16.6 in the after-hours dealing.
