Antony Leung: economic slowdown in Argentina and Singapore poses minor impact on
Financial Secretary Mr Antony Leung said that the economic downturn in Argentina and Singapore would pose insignificant impact on the economy of Hong Kong. He pointed out that Argentina has different currency system from Hong Kong and its economic recession would not affect Hong Kong. As for Singapore, he said that the country depended heavily on the export of electronics and technologies and would suffer more from the slumping fringe economy than Hong Kong, adding that Hong Kong government will continue to keep a close eye on the impact of fringe market on Hong Kong.
