Abott Laboratories increases provision and gains 23% less in Q2
Abott Latoratories, the tenth biggest pharmaceutical factory in the world, announced that negatively affected by making provision of US$172 mln for acquiring Knoll Pharmaceutical, the subsidiary of Bayer, its profit in Q2 dropped 23% to US$529 mln, circa 34 cents per share. However, deducing the provision, its net profit increased 2.9% to US$705 mln, circa 45 cents profit, approximately coinciding with the market expectation. During the period, the turnover of Abott Laboratories increased 22% to US$4.1 bln. Abott Laboratories closed at US$49 yesterday, dropping US$1.18 against the market.
