Morgan Stanley expects China Unicom to buy 18-province businesses for US$8.4bln

As financial advisor of China Unicom Morgan Stanley Dean Writter expected China Unicom (0762) to take over 18-province businesses from parent for US$8.4bln to US$10.1mln. Morgan Stanley Dean Writter estimated that China Mobile (0941) will also acquire the rest 18-province networks from parent at cost of US$22 to US$25. Morgan Stanley Dean Writter said as traction scale of China Unicom is much smaller than that of China Mobile, China Unicom will accomplish acquisition ahead of China Mobile. China Mobile will begin to carry out acquisition next year.
