China Unicom market share in mainland increases to 26%

Ministry of Information Industry pointed out in its report that the mobile phones market share of China Unicom (0762) at the end of June was 26.3%. With the CDMA network to be finished and put into production at the end of this year, the market share of the company would be largely increased. The number of the mobile phones users in China has reached 117 mln with popularization rate of 9.2% and of the total number, the newly increased users number was 31.495 mln. However, it was pointed out in the report that the broad increase of the users was mainly from the pre-paid card business, which accounted for 36.8% of the increased users.
