US stocks churn in narrow volatility; Dow and Nasdaq down 33 pts and 0.84%

US stocks wobbled in narrow volatility last Friday affected by the uncertain corporate earnings outlook. Microsoft, which announced within-expectation earnings last Thursday, also released earnings warnings. Plus, large technology companies such as Nortel Network and Gateway announced worse-than-expectation earnings last Thursday, which caused the tech plays to suffer selling pressure and affected the performance of broad market which was clouded with cautious sentiment. Dow ended 33.35 pts lower, or 0.31% to 10576.65 pts after recording a biggest loss of 81 pts, and Nasdaq shed 17.22 pts, or 0.84% to close at 2029.37 pts off the most serious loss of 1.8%.
