VOD not rule out possibility of acquiring Japan Telecom
The UK company, Vodafone said it had no intention to acquire Japan Telecom for the time being, but the possibility of acquiring it in the future was not ruled out. Vodafonr increased the shareholding of Japan telecom to 45% in May and accordingly increased the shareholding of its subsidiary mobile phone company J-Phone, to 60%. Vodafone said it was now in talks with J-Phone over merging the three pieces of local business of J-Phone to increase the efficiency and competitive power of J-Phone so as to compete with the two biggest rivals in Japan, NTT DoCoMo and KDDI.
