SARFT official brushes off entry into telecom sector

China Daily reported earlier that a high-profile official from the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television claimed that the telecom and broadcasting sectors can enter each other¡¦s field for development. However, Zhang Haitao, vice director with the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, said that though broadcasting units can enter the telecom field technically, the administration would focus efforts on internal reform. Meanwhile, he stressed that the foreign capitals and other sectors are forbidden to enter the broadcasting for the time being. His comments reflected it is a tough task to solve the conflict of interests between telecom and broadcasting sectors.
