Lucent to have talks with French Labor Union over laying-off plan

Lucent, the US telephone equipment manufacturer, said it would have talks with the representatives of French Labor Union over the plan of laying off. Lucent revealed in the earlier time that it would lay off 49, 500 people in the world. The spokesperson of Lucent said the specific number of the trimming force in Europe was still unknown for the time being, for it should inform the Labor Union of each country in Europe before trimming the working force. Lucent now had about 20,000 working people in Europe. Some analysts pointed out that as the power of the local Labor Union was strong, trimming force in France would meet quite a lot of difficulty.
