HSBC fails to boost HSI up

The benchmark Hang Seng Index was lower in early trade, paralleling the losses of the US shares. The HSI lost 160.03 points, or 1.32 percent, at 11,988.78 at HKT10:30am. The GEM Index dropped 2.43 points, or 1.04 percent, to 230.79.
