HSBC studies feasibility of setting up new mainland back-office operation

HSBC (0005) is studying the feasibility of setting up another back-office operation in China, a spokeswoman said, citing chief executive Aman Mehta. HSBC set up its first back-office operation in Guangzhou in 1996. At present, the operation centre has around 1,000 staff.
