SFC fully favors trading hour extension proposal

Some brokerage firms criticised that the extension of trading hours in the stock and stock-related derivatives markets proposed by the SEHK will not help boost the trading volume but on the contrary raise the cost of small and medium sized brokerage firms. SFC Chairman Andrew Sheng replied that such a proposal is still in consultation, and in fact it is the worldwide trend to extend the trading hours of stocks and derivatives. He said that SFC fully supports the proposal, claiming that supervision will not be affected at night
