Tung Chee-Hwa shows concern at US events; police monitoring developments

In response to media enquiries, the government's information coordinator, Stephen Lam said: "The Chief Executive (Tung Chee-hwa) has expressed to the U.S. Consul General in Hong Kong his shock and concern at the events which took place in New York and Washington. Mr Tung also expressed his sympathy and condolences to the family of the victims. "The Hong Kong Police Force are watching developments closely and will take any necessary precautionary measures to ensure that public safety continues to be maintained," he said.
